Taking pictures yourself is unfortunately not allowed. Photos can be purchased from the present staff. Prepare yourself for hefty prices of 17 dollars for a single photo and well over 60 dollars for a photo collection.
Construction of the Skywalk started at the end of 2004. The attraction opened to the public in 2007. The construction costed 30 million dollars and reached the limit of one million visitors in 2015.
The Grand Canyon Skywalk is very solidly built. A maximum of 120 visitors are allowed on the glass bridge at the same time, while the platform could carry more than 800 people. So there is a huge safety margin. In addition, the foundation can withstand an earthquake of 8.0 on the Richter scale.
